Confirmation & RCIA
The Sacrament of Confirmation has been celebrated at different times in the life of Christians, though not in different ways. After a period of preparation for the Sacrament, through study and through prayer, a baptized Christian presents themselves before the Church to receive this Sacrament of Christian maturity. The Bishop (who is the original minister of the Sacrament of Confirmation), either himself or a delegated priest, then anoints the worthy candidate for Confirmation with Sacred Chrism. They are thus given an indelible spiritual mark on their soul and the graces to live a fully mature Christian life.
“For centuries, Latin custom has indicated “the age of discretion” as the reference point for receiving Confirmation. But in danger of death children should be confirmed even if they have not yet attained the age of discretion” (CCC, 1307). Many parishes throughout in the Diocese of Saint Cloud, a two year preparation program for the Sacrament of Confirmation begins in 9th grade. We provide faith formation classes through our parishes. Please contact one our Directors of Religious Education for more information.
